Basics: Know Your Growth | Caution, Haircare

Greetings my Crowned Tribe,

I'm so happy to begin my "BASICS" series! What's that you ask? This series will bring you all the basics you need to know when it comes to improving the health of your hair. I will share everything from improving moisture, reducing shedding, product knowledge and more! Also, stay tuned for informative tutorial videos coming soon!

To kick off BASICS this post will give key tips for retaining your hair growth! Let's get started!

The rate or speed of hair growth is about 1.25 centimetres or 0.5 inches per month, or about 15 centimetres or 6 inches per year (Anagen phase). Anagen phase is known as the growth phase. It begins in the papilla and can last from two to six years. Although this phase can be affected by genetics, this phase is essential. There are 3 main factors that can maximize hair growth.

Split ends is a key component in retaining moisture. Lack of moisture in hair affects the integrity of your hair. Ever feel like short and long strands are found on your pillow or bathroom counter? Lack of trimming could very well be one reason. Trimming the very ends every 2-3 months max help make sure that moisture can travel down the entire strands without any blockage.

Reinforcing Moisture Replenishing the moisture in hair can be done several ways. Depending on the hair type meaning: coarse, medium, fine or straight, wavy curly, extremely coily will determine what works best! Steam treatments can replenish the hair 5x more than any conditioner allowthe hair to absorb up to 5oz of water depending on how dehydrated the hair is. Hair may not feel dry to touch but in most cases microscopically it’s in need of major hydration. Treatments such as the "One Step Smoothing Treatment" (book via my site) can aid in improving the moisture in your hair internally, smoothing the cuticle to reduce frizzing while protecting the hair from heat and excessive manipulation. One Step Smoothing benefits can last up to 16 weeks without altering the natural curl pattern.

Protecting the hair.

Our hair withstands a lot day to day from the sun to the type of water used when shampooing. Using protectors such a thermal protectants, leave in conditioners, conditioners with SPF, wearing a satin or silk scarfs/pillow cases and reducing tension all aids in maintaining the integrity of our hair. More importantly , H2O. Water plays a huge part in protecting your hair and hydrating the scalp. Drinking plenty of water will force the natural oils in your body out through your follicles and pores therefore providing luster for your hair strands. So drink up and wear your nightly protection!

I hope this was helpful and be sure to share with a friend or 3!😉 Where's the fun in keeping all the goodies for yourself!!!
